Field trips to the Nueces County Keach Family LIbrary are facilitated October through May during the school year. During the summer months please reach out to the library to facilitate.
Know Before You Go
Some things to think about when you're planning your trip include:
- Library Cards - Decide before you go if your group will be checking out books. We recommend the teachers and chaperones hold onto their groups' library cards until it's time for checkout time. For youth field trips, the library will not be issuing library cards during their visit.
- Computer Usage - Will your group be enjoying the computers that the library has to offer? Teachers will want to decide if computer use is a part of the visit prior to arrival. Limited computers are available. Larger groups will want to plan to rotate groups through the computers available for their age group.
- Lunch - If lunches are a part of your field trip visit, the group will need to plan to eat outdoors in the park or outside on the veranda. Lunches are provided by the visiting group.
- Prepare Your Group - Before your visit, go over the field trip flow and jobs with your group. You can also visit the catalog to talk about goals for the visit.
